Concrete Process

  1. Concrete is Broken out and hauled away
  2. 4" 21aa stone base in laid and compacted underneath your new concrete to provide a stable base and drainage.
  3. Re-bar - We install #3 rebar on all projects which helps with Michigan's cold and fluctuating winter temperatures this is installed at our standard 36" grid and wire tied at all cross sections
  4. Synthetic Fiberglass is mixed into the concrete mix on all broom finish to help add plasticity and help prevent concrete shrinkage.
  5. The concrete is screeded flat to grades set by us for proper runoff
  6. We bull float the concrete to push the aggregate down and create a smooth surface in preparation for finishing.
  7. The edges are tooled to create a nice rolled edge.
  8. We wait for the bleed water to stop.
  9. The concrete slab is then finished with magnesium trowels and steel trowels to give it a perfect flat finish.
  10. Finally a light broom finish is applied to the concrete for a non-slip surface.
  11. 24 hours later we return to saw cut control joints and remove form work.
  12. Final clean-up and Power washing is preformed

FAQ

  • Question: Will my concrete crack ? Answer - Yes, more than likely but we add fiber & rebar to your concrete to ensure it doesn't separate. Cracking is a very normal park of concretes properties.
  • Question: How much stone base goes under my concrete ? Answer - 4" is the standard. We sometimes might recommend a deeper base for an up-charge based on soil conditions.
  • Question: Will my concrete heave in the winter? Answer - It is very common for concrete to heave during cold winters, as moisture freezes in the soil below your stone base & Concrete it causes lift and is unavoidable.
  • Question: Cracks have crossed my control joints what do I do? Answer - Nothing needs to be done, Cracking is un-predicable and can sometimes cracks can cross pre-cut control joints. Your re-bar and fiber will keep your concrete held together.
  • Question: Is expansion paper used ? Answer- Yes, we place fiber or rubber expansion paper against buildings and other areas we deem susceptible of lateral expansion
  • Question: How thick is a standard concrete driveway? Answer - 4" is the standard for a concrete driveway, although sometimes customers want more re-assurance and go for 5-6" for additional costs.
  • Question: Will my concrete have a warranty? Answer - We can not warrant concrete in Michigan as soil conditions and very cold temperatures, play a major factor in minor issues arising. But we can assure that we utilize all technology available, Fiber, Steel Re-bar and professional finishing and placement techniques to ensure we install your concrete during adequate weather with proper slump and mix design. Concrete will always crack.. but we make sure it still lasts..
  • We all know that one guy who got a concrete driveway and it hasn't cracked in 10 years. Statistically speaking he's just lucky and his individual site conditions are favorable.
  • Question: Do you offer Financing ? Answer - Yes, We offer financing through Acorn. There is only a soft credit pull while your researching offers. Once you select your offer a hard inquiry is requested to complete your financing. This allows you to reduce the initial out of pocket burden and spread it out over time.
  • Fact - Michigan's front line is 42" deep, so unless we are excavating your entire project 44" deep movement is inevitable.
  • Fact - Anyone claiming a warranty is selling you snake oil, we always do our best to address any concerns our customers have, that starts with hard truth and communication from the start, No false promises we cant predict.
